Hosted by the Racial and Social Justice Collaborative with the Center for Educational Innovation and Improvement (CEii), a collaborative and center that share MILE’s goal to advance equity.

“The University of Maryland's Racial & Social Justice Collaborative Bright Spots Community Forum is designed to bring together justice-oriented educators from across our local partner school districts and the University of Maryland by elevating promising school-based racial and social justice practices. This year’s event will feature equity educators from Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) and will provide an opportunity to connect and converse around our shared commitment to racial and social justice in education. We hope you can join us!”

This event will be moderated by Mary Taylor-Lewis, Diversity Officer at the University of Maryland College of Education. The event features “Why and How We Honor Humanity” with Dr. Daryl Howard, MCPS Department of Systemwide Equity and “Honoring Our Humanity” with Dr. Natasha Bolden, Principal and Cherine Roberts, Counselor at Stedwick Elementary School.

This is a free event.

The Racial and Social Justice Collaborative (RSJC) is a research-practice partnership among the University of Maryland, Anne Arundel County Schools, Prince George's County Public Schools, and Montgomery County Public Schools. Our team includes faculty and students from three departments within the UMD College of Education, the Center for Educational Innovation and Improvement, and the School of Public Policy, as well as Equity Directors from each of our three partner school districts. Our work centers on a shared problem of practice: opportunities and challenges that Black male students face in school.
